Recipients are not receiving e-mails

Updated yesterday

We continuously monitor our email servers to ensure that emails are delivered to the recipients of your files. If they (or you) don't receive emails, then please check your SPAM folder (or JUNK folder in case you're using Outlook).

Troubleshooting Steps for Notification Issues

Follow these steps to ensure that Filemail notifications are delivered:

  1. Check the Spam or Junk Folder:

    • Verify if the email was flagged as spam.

    • Restore the email to your inbox and mark it as "Not spam."

    • Add Filemail's sender address or domain to your whitelist.

  2. Review Filtering and Quarantine Rules:

    • Check whether email settings like quarantine or filtering rules delayed or blocked emails.

    • Adjust these settings to allow emails from Filemail.

  3. Consult Email Administrators:

    • Engage IT administrators to trace missing messages in the recipient's mail system.

    • Ensure Filemail's emails or domain is trusted by the email system.

If you have a Gmail account - then please check your Promotions tab.

Additionally, ensure the recipient checks all sub-tabs in their mailbox, such as Primary, Social, and other relevant categories, where emails might be routed accidentally.

Encourage recipients to contact their IT or email administrators if messages are missing, requesting them to trace the issue within the mail system. This approach can help identify whether Filemail’s emails have been filtered or blocked inadvertently.

You can also share the download URL to recipients using your email account. The download URL is the browser address which is displayed when you are on the download page - and looks something like this: https://www.filemail.com/d/asdfasdfasdfasd

Another alternative is to use our Outlook Addin. All emails are sent from your account when using this Addin - so the emails will be delivered like any other email you send.

To minimize email delivery issues further, recipients are encouraged to:

  1. Add Filemail's email domain to their allowlist or whitelist to prevent notifications from being flagged.

  2. Periodically check SPAM or JUNK folders to catch misclassified emails.

  3. For enterprise setups, coordinate with IT teams to proactively allow emails from Filemail and verify configurations.
