How Can I Free Up Some Storage Space?

Managing your storage space is simple with Filemail’s Storage Cleanup feature, located in the Storage overview section of Filemail’s settings.

This tool gives you a clear overview of all your sent and received transfers, including key details such as file size, expiration dates, and whether the transfer was inbound or outbound. To reclaim space, just select the transfers you no longer need and click ‘Cleanup Selected’. Your selected files will be permanently deleted and the storage space will be made available instantly.

Please note: This action is permanent and cannot be undone—even by Filemail’s support or administrators.

For Business and Enterprise accounts, administrators also have the ability to manage and clean up storage across all users in the organization.

Alternatively, you may want to identify the not needed messages directly from your Sent or Inbox folders. Here's how to do this:

  1. Go to one of these two pages: Sent or Inbox.

  2. On the transfer list locate some large transfers that you don't need anymore. Note: only permanent transfers and transfers sent after 16.03.2020 are counted towards your storage use - deleting these will allow you to get some more free space. But deleting other transfers (non-permanent sent before 16.03.2020) will not affect your storage usage.

  3. Click the transfer you wish to delete to load its details.

  4. Click the "Delete" button to the right on the transfer toolbar.

  • Storage space is updated immediately - you can see it on your profile.
