How does Filemail handle customer data during the termination of service?
Updated over 2 months ago

Filemail has a comprehensive data retention and deletion policy in place to ensure the secure handling of customer data during the termination of service. When a customer terminates their service with Filemail, all associated data is handled as follows:

  • Customer Control: Customers have the ability to delete their files and data manually before terminating their service. Filemail provides tools to facilitate the secure deletion of data by the customer at any time.

  • Data Retention Policy: Customer data is retained only for as long as necessary to fulfill the intended purpose. Upon termination, data retention policies are strictly enforced to ensure timely deletion.

  • Account Data: Information related to expired accounts is automatically erased after a specified period of inactivity depending on the account type. This includes all account-related information, ensuring complete removal of customer data from Filemail's systems.

  • Secure Deletion: All customer data, including files and metadata, are securely deleted from Filemail's servers. This ensures that no residual data remains that could potentially be accessed or recovered.
